『アオハライド』『ストロボ・エッジ』で別冊マーガレット (集英社)にて年代問わず女子の絶大な支持を得る漫画家・咲坂伊緒が描いたハルとくるみ。脚本は『すいか』や『Q10』など、さわやかでありながらも深い人間像を描く、木皿泉。『四畳半神話大系』『ギルティクラウン』で各話絵コンテ・演出を務め、圧倒的なクオリティの映像を作り上げた牧原亮太郎を監督に迎え、プロダクション I.Gから2012年6月に独立した、WIT STUDIOが作り出す、初の劇場中編アニメーション作品。 ―― 「くるみに、生きていることを思い出させるために、ボクは人間になった」ハルとくるみの幸せな日常。いつまでも続くと思っていた日々は、飛行機事故で突如終わりをつげた。けんか別れのまま、最愛のハルを失い、生きる力も失ってしまったくるみ。 彼女の笑顔をとりもどすため、ヒト型ロボットのQ01 (キューイチ)は、ハルそっくりのロボハルとしてくるみと暮らすことに。 ロボハルの頼りは、かつてくるみが願い事を書いた、ルービックキューブ。 色がそろうごとに溢れてくる、くるみの想いに応えるため、ロボハルが奮闘するも、くるみはかたくなに心を閉ざしたまま。ロボハルを作った荒波博士、そして京の街のひとたちに助けを借りながらも、ロボハルは、人について、そしてくるみについて知っていく。少しずつ打ち解けるロボハルとくるみだったが・・・。
