What is Saikoho Yomo?
It is the highest-quality part among goat hair with extra smooth. Picked up only high quality and very soft hair from Sokoho.
Saikoho hair which has a long translucent portion towards the tip, and is amber in color, is considered to be of particularly high quality, and it is a selection of the finest goats' hair, of the highest quality.
The highest-quality hair for brushes, known as "Koyomo", is hair that has been taken from goats living in the Yangtze region of China, in the 1970s or before, and is precious due to its rarity. Brushes using "Koyomo" confirmed as being from this period, are coated in cuticles up to the hair tip, and have delicate tips, which means that they feel smooth on the skin and have no friction. The brushes also last a long time, becoming more adapted the more they are used, and as make-up brushes they are unparalleled.
This brush is completed using the traditional Aizu lacquering method of "Tamamushi-nuri". "Tamamushi-nuri" is one of the methods of traditional Aizu lacquering, and after the Second World War it was widely exported to Europe. After applying a "Honkataji" base as with normal lacquering, silver powder is scattered over the whole surface, then "Tamamushi-urushi", colored red, is painted. The glossiness is adjusted, and the composition altered, in order to make the appearance more glass-like, which allows the pure silver to shine through and raise the base luster. The contrast between the pale white color of the "Koyomo", and the glossy, rich, deep, red color of the stem, is extremely beautiful.

*Because this product is made with natural wood, wood grain may be visible on the handle. Thin lines may also be visible; these are a result of the product being manufactured with lacquer. Such variations may be expected with natural materials.
