A new talent from Denmark that pushes the boundaries of the rock genre by fusing 70's prog rock and modern progressive metal... The debut of VOLA, an alternative progressive metal act from Denmark! The vocal harmonies and deep electro sounds, with groove-filled rhythm patterns and distorted guitars, overlap with a sense of spatial expansiveness that is somewhat reminiscent of Pink Floyd, but at the same time has the inorganic heaviness of RAMMSTEIN, and the modernity of the band. It is at the same time reminiscent of the inorganic heaviness of RAMMSTEIN and the perverted heaviness of MESHUGGAH, one of the greats of modern progressive music. Although each element of the sound is as extreme as possible, the way in which the elements are combined into a single "sound" and made to sound rounded rather than sharply-angled is one of the most impressive aspects of the album. 70年代プログ・サウンドとDjent的なエッジ、そしてクリーンな歌声で奏でられるメロディ・ライン・・・、70年代プログ・ロックとモダン・プログレッシヴ・メタルとを融合させ、ロックというジャンルの境界線を押し広げる新たなる才能 ── デンマークが産んだオルタナティヴ・プログレッシヴ・メタル・アクト、VOLA、デビュー! ヴォーカル・ハーモニーと深みに満ちたエレクトロ・サウンド、そこにグルーヴ感に満ちたリズム・パターンとひずんだギターが折り重なりながらも、どこか空間的な広がりを感じさせるこの感覚は、PINK FLOYDにも通じる要素でもあり、同時にRAMMSTEINのような無機質なヘヴィネスであったり、モダン・プログレッシヴの雄、MESHUGGAHの変態的ヘヴィネスを彷彿とさせる。一つ一つの要素はそれぞれ思い切り振りきったサウンドなのだが、それを一つの「音」としてまとめあげ、鋭角的というよりは丸みを帯びたサウンドに仕上げる手法は、圧巻の一言。マスタリングをOPETHなどを手掛ける名手Jens Bogrenが担当しているのも、この特筆すべき彼らのスタイルにおいて大きなポイントとなっている。
