映画「晩春」「生れてはみたけれど」 「晩春」は、婚期を逸しかけた娘を心配する父親 (笠智衆) と、自分が嫁いだあとの父の行く末を案じる娘 (原節子) の思いを描く物語。昭和24年度キネマ旬報ベスト・テン第1位になり、小津作品のなかでも名作として知られています。ヒロインである原節子が初めて小津作品に出演し、鮮烈な印象を与えました。「生れてはみたけれど」は、昭和7年に作られたサイレント(無声)映画の傑作です。会社での役職の差から生じるサラリーマン社会の悲哀を、子どもたちの目を通して軽妙に描きだしています。解説本の2大インタビューでは、大林宣彦監督が小津映画の見どころを語り、小津の弟・信三氏夫人の小津ハマさんが思い出を披露します。出演者・ロケ地 (鎌倉、茅ヶ崎、京都) 紹介も充実。
