Description

[Machine Translation] This is the first "serial" work by Ishikawa Ken, 15 years after his death, and a monumental work that goes back to "Getter Robo" and is the first work under the joint name of Nagai Go. Nagai Go made his debut in 1967 at the age of 22 with "Poliyoshi Meakeishi". After his debut, he continued to release works energetically, and instead of the hierarchical relationship of teacher and assistant that had existed at manga studios until then, he founded Dynamic Pro with the aim of creating a group of creators. Ishikawa, who passed away in 2006 at the age of 58, was born in June 1948, and was a member of the baby-boom generation with his birthday in September 1945. Gakuen Bangaichi" was the first work that these two artists published together under their own names. The serialization of this school gag manga began in 1969. It was the year of the Yasuda Auditorium Incident at the University of Tokyo, a time when young people of the same generation as the two were loudly calling for revolution and were engaged in conflicts. It is no exaggeration to say that this work is one of Go Nagai's three great school manga, along with "Harenchi Gakuen" (from 1969) and "Gakuen Boring Man" (from 1970), both of which were also in the same era, and both of which bitterly mocked the old authority. At the beginning of the serialization, Go Nagai was 23 years old, and Ken Ishikawa (whose real name was Kenichi Ishikawa at the beginning of the serialization, but changed to Ken Ishikawa during the serialization) was just 21 years old, making this his first serial work. However, in the middle of the serialization, in 1970 No. 19 (September 22 issue), Ken Ishikawa left Dynamic Pro, declaring his intention to hitchhike around Japan, and the serialization was changed to "Tetsuji Aikawa / Go Nagai" in the next issue and thereafter. A few years later, Ken Ishikawa officially returned to Dynamic Productions. His "Getter Robo," also a joint work with Go Nagai, made his individuality and uniqueness known to manga fans, and he remained at Dynamic Pro until 2006, the year of his death, and continued to produce powerful works. Gakuen Bangaichi" was the beginning of their relationship. This work was published twice before in comics (Shonen Gahosha "HIT COMICS" edition, 1971~72, and Wakagi Shobo "COMIC MATE" edition, 1974), without the Tetsuji Aikawa part, but it has been difficult to obtain for a long time. Reprint.com is pleased to present this reprinted edition, which reproduces the door picture and color pages of each serialized issue, and includes "extra pages" such as the mouth picture that appeared only in the first issue of the magazine and was not included in the book. Product Specifications / 2 volumes, A5 size, softcover, 240 pages each / Color pages (4-color and 2-color) and door pictures from the magazine serialization are reproduced for the first time! Gallery and commentary on the illustrations are included at the end of the book.

Tetsuko Ishikawa/Dynamic Production 2021
