This group just proves that there's something for everyone. I've listened to a lot of Japanese music and am surprised by the vast diversity in where bands find their inspiration. There's J-reggae and J-hip hop, and now J-American Folk Music? :) Co-rchestra performs their own versions of American folk music and standards in Japanese. I got into the group by listening to "tasogare polka" on an indies internet station, and I fell in love with their version of the music. Although I wasn't aware of it at first, tasogare polka was their take on "Polka dots and moonbeams" a song sung by everyone from Frank Sinatra to John Denver. They give it a decidedly quirky twist which makes the song that much more fun! I recommend this album to anyone who wants to expand their horizons when it comes to Japanese music.
