very great album, but is such a shame that moi dix mois takes so long to release new albums. ~~~~~~~~
DIXANADU Customer Reviews
Moi dix Mois
Not a bad album overall, It was interesting to hear the remix version of Pessimist(as neo pessimist) and Temptation (as last tempation) but other than those, only Xanadu was good enough to leave impression for me.
Overall, it's a pretty solid album. I remember expressing in my review of "Lamentful Miss" about how much I hated Mana's new mixer, and that sentiment hasn't changed at all. They still are very, very terrible. I think If mana had changed back, the cd would have had a better sound to it and I would have enjoyed it more instead of getting annoyed constantly by the lack of balance in each track. The songs are solid enough, and after fixing the mixing problems as much as I could myself through itunes, decided that it's a pretty good cd. I personally liked Beyond the Gate better because the energy was so high in that mini album, and in DIXANADU Seth just sounds out of it many times. As always, I wish he'd just belt it and sing out. If you're already an MDM fan, buy this cd, but if you wand a first cd from this band, pick up Nocturnal Opera or Beyond the Gate instead.
I personally prefer Seth's vocals because he attempts more of a flavor than does Juka who is just a little more power. In some tracks, the vocals could have been better or stopped short of perfect satisfaction, but I'm glad to say Seth gave it his 90-99%. K was pretty impressive as always and Mana actually tried to be a little different. Less organ and harpsichord abuse. This album is definitely less stale after repeated listening than the last single and a few of the other albums. My interest for Mana's music fizzled out a bit at the end of the Juka era, but Beyond the Gate and Lamentful Miss helped spark it again, and this album was pretty cool. It's worth a listen definitely and my favorite track is actually "Xanadu" because it builds, elevates and airs out. Hard to describe.
After beyond the gate, I felt a bit put out... I really wasn't feeling the vibe, but DIXANADU certainly did hold my interest. Seth's voice hasn't grown on me as I'd hoped, for the style, but it still lends a beautiful tone to songs like Angelica and Lilac of Damnation. Those two were my favourite songs on the album. Overall it was a good effort, but I think the glory days of MdM, have long passed.
While my expectations for this album haven't been too high, 'DIXANADU' didn't quite fulfil them. I had expected more as the album was announced to be a M10M utopia. Still, the album will most certainly please any fan as it keeps to M10M's unique style (even if I think that the rearrangements aren't necessary). While I had difficulties to like Seth's voice in the best, 'DIXANADU' now proved me otherwise.
i think the old vocalist juka is better, but the music mana make still excellent dark, i like the song call xanadu very much
I think this album is very good. Ive been waiting for a full album from Moi Dix Mois for a while. Its nice to here the new singer Seth and he doesnt dissapoint. I do wish Mana had created some more new songs though. Theres a few re recordings of older songs are here which are pretty good.
This album contains excellent tracks such the new version of Lamentful Miss, Dispell Bound, Angelica, Metaphysical and Xanadu but almost all the tracks give the feeling of the ''already listened'', there are too many interludes and I think that Mana-sama needs to stop to re-arrange old songs and put them in the albums or singles.
Well...I expected more. It's a good album, no doubt about it, but it's not as good as it should have been. I like Angelica, it's a nice song, but was not satisfied with the arrangement of Tentation...I feel like something was missing. It's not as grand as Nocturnal Opera or Dix Infernal.
After hearing to the whole album i found it to be a pretty good album, however, it is not what i expected. Songs like Angelica, Dispell Bound, Exclude, and Metaphysical really caught my attention but the rest were kind of too slow. Moi Dix Mois did changed since their first album some may like it, some may not, and some may still want it to change a bit more. I personally miss the agressive, symphonic and melodic style they used to have in Dixinfernal and Nocturnal Romance. Even though this album ain't what i expected i still consider Moi Dix Mois my favorite band, they are so unique.
