2001年、当時HELLOWEENのメンバーであったローランド・グラポウ(G)とウリ・カッシュ(Ds)がバンドを脱退し、ヨルン・ランデ(Vo)、現IRON SAVIORのヤン・S・エッカート(B)、アクセル・マッケンロット(Keys)と共に新たに結成したパワー・メタル・バンドMASTERPLAN。2003年にセルフ・タイトルでリリースしたデビュー・アルバムの発売20周年を記念しスペシャル・エディションとして再発が決定。MASTERPLANはHELLOWEENを脱退したメンバーが結成した新バンドということで、早い段階から高い注目を浴び、完成したデビュー・アルバムの内容も、そのファンの期待に応える内容で、現在でもライヴの定番曲となっている"Spirit Never Die" "kind Hearted Light""Heroes"などを収録。アルバム発売直後には日本公演も敢行し日本でも人気を博した、今なおジャーマン・メタル/パワー・メタルの代表作の一つとして、評価が高い作品である。また本作では内容も然ることながら、メンバー以外のゲストなどが充実していたことも話題の一つとして上げられる。最たるところはローランドやウリより前にHELLOWEENを脱退、当時HM/HR業界から距離を置いていたマイケル・キスク(Vo)が客演したことや、CHILDREN OF BODOMのヤンネ・ウィルマン(Keys)がレコーディングに全面参加したり、アルバムをプロデュースしたのが現在JUDAS PRIESTで活躍するアンディ・スニープであることなどもポイントの一つとして上げられる。今回の再発にあたっては、当時日本盤には収録されなかった楽曲や、更に追加として当時のラインナップによるライヴ音源のボーナス・トラックを収録予定。また、国内盤はSHM-CDにて発売。

Classic Debut Album 5

This is a reissue of Masterplan classic Debut album. Long overdue the original pressing has long been out of print. Jorn Lande soaring vocals powdered by Roland Grapow songs make this a perfect match. This release contains additional bonus tracks not found on the OG and is in shm format.
