80年代後期から活動を続けるドイツのスラッシュ・メタル・バンドPARADOXの、前作『PANGEA』(2016)以来となる5年振りの最新作。かつ本作は彼らの代表作であり、ファンからも絶大な評価を受けている名作『HERESY』(1989)の続編となるコンセプト・アルバムである。バンドはアルバム発売に先駆けて、1stシングルPriestly Vows及び2ndシングルThe Visitorを公開。特にPriestly Vowsは約7分という長尺ながら、息もつかせぬスピーディでスリリングな展開の曲で、代表作の続編の名に恥じない、新作を期待させるに十分な完成度を誇示している。デビュー以降、完成度の高いアルバムを発表し続けているPARADOXであるが、リーダーであるチャーリー・スタインハウアー以外はメンバーが流動的である事でも知られ、今回もチャーリー以外は全員ラインナップが変更されている。本作はギターにクリスティアン・ミュンツナー、ベースはオリー・ケラー、ドラムはアクセル・ブラハという面子だが、ここで長年このバンドのファンであればピンとくるメンバーであろう。そう3人とも過去PARADOXに参加した面々である。特にアクセルはオリジナル・メンバーでチャーリーと共にこのバンドを立ち上げた人物であり、脱退後約30年振りの復帰となる。この代表作の続編という大事な作品を制作するにあたって、実力を認めたメンバーを再集結させたことからも、チャーリーがこのアルバムにかける熱意が伝わるだろう。
