PS3用ソフト・アトリエシリーズのオープニングテーマで、一躍脚光を浴びた山本美禰子が率いるバンド、ジギタリス。ゲームファン、ファンタジーファンに支持された2ndアルバム「SYZYGIA」に続く、待望の3rdアルバム。前作の『SYZYGIA(相対する一対の物)』というコンセプトに続き、本作『Ars Magna(大いなる作業)』では"錬金術"をテーマに掲げ、クラシックをベースにした表現力豊かな歌声は様々な表情を見せ、多彩さを生かした多重コーラスが本作ではより強力に押し出されている。また、複雑なビートを刻むドラムとベース、華やかなギターが生み出す力強いバンドサウンドは歌声に陰影を与え、より一層際立たせている。さらにジギタリスの最大の特徴である幻想的な歌詞は、寓意と象徴に富んだ詩的な世界で、聴き手に鮮烈なイメージを想起させる。こういった要素が高度に融合したメロディアスな幻想絵巻"ジギタリスサウンド"が凝縮された1枚。
