Hawaiian Falsetto Voices (Remaster)

[Machine Translation] Along with steel guitar and ukulele, falsetto (back voice) singing has become a major characteristic of Hawaiian music. This compilation focuses on this unique singing style, with the concept of looking back on its history while enjoying vintage recordings by the masters in this field. The music selection/commentary is by Yuki Yamauchi and Katsunori Tanaka, who introduce the great performances left on SP records, which are difficult to find nowadays, with detailed commentary. Originally released in 1999, the album has been remastered and reissued at a lower price.

スティール・ギターやウクレレと並んでハワイ音楽の大きな特徴になっているのが、ファルセット (裏声)唱法。本作は、そんな独特の歌唱スタイルにスポットを当てた編集盤で、その分野の名手たちのヴィンテージ録音を楽しみながら、その歴史を振り返るというコンセプトで制作。選曲/解説は、山内雄喜と田中勝則が担当し、いまでは入手が困難なSPレコードに残された名演を、詳しい解説と共にご紹介。オリジナルは1999年にリリースされた本作を、今回はリマスターして廉価再発。
