Kujira no Hone

Blu-ray release of the film "Kujira no Hone" directed by Takamasa Ooe, a scriptwriter of "Drive My Car." --Mamiya, an insomniac who has broken up with his soon-to-be-married girlfriend, meets a high school girl on a matching app who is the only one who replies to him, but the girl commits suicide in Mamiya's apartment. Mamiya is so upset that he tries to bury her in the mountains, but the next thing he knows, her body has vanished. Mamiya discovers a girl named "Asuka" who looks exactly like the dead high school girl in the AR application called "Mimi". Asuka is a charismatic figure who posts videos around town that can be replayed through "Mimi," and her fans roam the streets in search of her videos. As Mamiya follows Asuka's trail, the boundary between reality and fantasy becomes blurred. Who is Asuka? Is she the same person as the dead girl? And does she really exist...?

落合モトキ×あの W主演、『ドライブ・マイ・カー』「ガンニバル」の脚本を手掛ける大江崇允監督作。――結婚間近だった恋人と破局した不眠症の間宮は、マッチングアプリで唯一返信をくれた女子高生と会うが、女子高生は間宮のアパートで自殺してしまう。うろたえて山中に埋めようとするも、気がつけば死体は消えていた。間宮はARアプリ「王様の耳はロバの耳 (通称ミミ)」(※注釈)の中で、死んだ女子高生と瓜二つの少女"明日香"を発見する。"明日香"は「ミミ」を通じて再生できる動画を街中で投稿し、動画目当てのファンたちが街を徘徊するカリスマ的存在だった。"明日香"の痕跡を追いかけるうちに、現実と幻想の境界が曖昧になっていく間宮。いったい"明日香"とは何者か? 彼女は死んだ少女と同一人物なのか? そして本当に存在するのだろうか?
