Turning to Crime [CD+DVD]

deep purple really did not need to join the list of endless artists putting out covers albums but i suppose due to the pandemic they had no other choice as they cant tour, some very interesting and obscure covers here, all 5 band members recorded there own parts at there home studios and again BOB EZRIN produced this and this of coarse has that same production sound the last 3 DP albums have had now since 2013 wich is great!!! bob ezrin is the best producer for purple in there twilight years i feel as every album he has done for them now over almost 9 years is FANTASTIC!!!! they did a great job on these tracks here and added there own sound to most all of the tracks featured here wich came out HEAVY, WELL MIXED & VERY WELL PUT TOGETHER........... steve morse really adds some killer solos to these tracks of his own and well IN THE STUDIO only gillan sounds as great as ever here, it must have been steve morse but when i saw this track selection a couple of months back i could not belive DP where doing a cover of the (1960 country hit) the BATTLE OF NEW ORLEANS but it sure came out interesting here, im sure johnny horton is proud someplace ha ha... anyway still of all the hard rock outfits that have covered SHAPES OF THINGS i still feel the best cover of that 60s classic was done back in 1984 by the late GARY MOORE on his victims of the future record and nobody has ever topped GARYS VERSION!!! the only exception would be the original YARDBIRDS 1966 version......anyway THANK YOU DEEP PURPLE for another great record during this pandemic! i only reviewed the cd portion of this as the dvd is not live........
