第3回WOWOWシナリオ大賞で、過去最多となる730編の応募作の中から大賞に選ばれた作品を"ドラマW"として映像化。孤独死・自殺・事故死などが原因と思われる現場を清掃する特殊清掃業で働く青年が、孤独死した女性の日記から彼女の生の軌跡をたどってゆく。孤独死や無縁死が増加し問題化している現代の世相を背景に、誰にでも平等に訪れる【死】を追いながら、【生】を【過去】をたどり【明日】への希望を見出すことで、主人公の心が成長してゆく姿を感動的に描いている。監督には、『釣りバカ日誌』シリーズをはじめとして、市井の人々の人生模様を描ききることで定評のある朝原雄三。主演に映画『ソフトボーイ』や『悪人』、ドラマ「大阪ラブ&ソウル」「おひさま」などで各方面から注目を集める若手俳優・永山絢斗。他にも、富田靖子、寺脇康文、山崎樹範、三田村邦彦、風吹ジュンといった実力派キャストが揃い、見応えあるヒューマンドラマとなっている。
