日本映画史に残る不朽の名作を遂にDIGレーベルが HDマスターによる待望の初DVD化! 『キューポラのある街』(1962年)でデビュー、次の『非行少女』(1963年)でも高い評価を得た名監督浦山桐郎が5年の歳月をかけて完成させた執念の名作。原作は「沈黙」等で世界的に知られる遠藤周作の「わたしが・棄てた・女」。――自動車の部品会社に勤める吉岡努は、専務の姪のマリ子との結婚を控えていたが楽しくはなかった。かつては学生運動に青春を燃やした自分が、いまは刹那的な快楽と利益を追う並みの人間の一人になっているのを自覚していたからだ。ある夜、努はクラブの女を抱いた。その女から努はある女の噂を聞いて愕然とした――その女の名前はミツ。彼女は努が学生時代に遊び相手として見つけた田舎出身の女工だった。彼女への愛情などなくあるのは肉欲のみ。将来への希望もない中で努が肉体だけを楽しむだけ楽しんだ上、海岸におきざりにして逃げてきた女、それがミツだった。下宿も変えた努に、ミツが子供を中絶したことなど知る由もなかった。そして努とミツの再会は突然訪れる・・・。プレスシート縮尺再編集版封入(予定)。
