バンド『ミドリ』のフロントマン、ソロプロジェクト、DJユニット、そしてトラック制作から楽曲提供など、ミュージシャンとして様々な実績を重ねながら、新しいスタイルにも果敢に挑戦している稀代のアーティスト『後藤まりこ』『後藤まりこアコースティックviolence POP』は、主にアコースティックギターを使用した後藤まりこが「歌」と向き合った弾き語りのプロジェクトであり、彼女の様々な活動の中でも最も赤裸々で素直な表現として、ファンはもちろん、アーティスト評価も高い。アルバムタイトルはミドリ時代に後藤が最も大切にしていたと公言している楽曲「POP」(ミドリ、ラストライブ最後の1曲として演奏)より命名されている。本作は録音エンジニアに中村宗一郎氏を迎え、二人三脚で制作。「明日の糧」(ラジオドラマ『恋愛成仏レストラン』主題歌)「ふあっきんでいず」「江ノ島メモリー」など、全8曲を収録。
