前作デビューミニアルバム「Life is beautiful」で打ち出したアッパーグラウンドのコンセプト「ハッピー&エンジョイ」はそのままに、楽曲のバラエティとクオリティを強力にグレードアップさせた作品。アッパーグラウンドの「ウリ」の1つであるファンキーダンスチューンはホーンセクションや鍵盤をフィーチャーすることで格段にゴージャス&パワフルに成長し、要所にちりばめられた70年代ファンク、ソウルのダンサブルなテイストに乗せて、未花(Vo♀)とNAO(MC♂)がキャッチーかつストレートに前向きなメッセージを伝えている。またもうひとつの「ウリ」であるメッセージナンバーにおいては生ピアノやクラシックギター、ドラマティックなストリングスアレンジを導入することで格段に「あたたかさ」が増し、伸びやかで時にやさしいファルセットで歌い上げる未花を全面にフィーチャーした楽曲も収録されアッパーグラウンドのメッセージ表現力の新たな可能性を感じさせる。今回収録された全6曲、飛びきりハッピーな曲から、感傷に浸り涙したくなるような曲までとてもカラフルな色を持ち最初から最後まで聞くと、ある意味「人生の喜怒哀楽」がどことなく感じられるような気がする作品である。2002年に結成されたNAO(Vo&MC)、未花(Vo)、Yo-hei(DJ)によるフリースタイルロックバンド。「ハッピー&楽しい」をコンセプトに作り上げられた彼らのサウンドは理屈抜きの"アゲアゲ"ダンスナンバーと、心揺るがす暖かなメッセージナンバーという二面性を持つ。またロックだけでなくファンク、ディスコ、ヒップホップ、R&B等の様々なエッセンスを吸収しながらも「アッパーグラウンド」というフィルターを通すことによって非常にキャッチーな楽曲となっていることも大きな特徴だ。ちなみに本作品のリードトラックである「Happy with a smile」は中京テレビ「スポーツスタジアム」2006年6月エンディングテーマとしてオンエアが決定している。
