"Sheep in the Box" is an original film conceived, directed, written, and edited by the internationally acclaimed Kore-eda Hirokazu. Starring Ayase Haruka and Daigo (Chidori) as a married couple, the story is set in a "slightly near future" where a couple who lost their child welcomes a humanoid bearing the appearance of their son, and their life as a family begins to move forward once more.

The film score was fully composed through film scoring by composer Bando Yuta, portraying the shifting relationships within the family through three musical pillars: cello, voice, and orchestra, as humans and humanoids intertwine.

The original soundtrack features 31 carefully selected tracks, including music used in the film as well as unreleased pieces not included in the main feature. The central cello solo throughout the work is performed by the highly accomplished Ito Yu, while the orchestra is performed by Ensemble FOVE led by Bando Yuta. Additional performances include London Voices, the Suginami Junior Chorus, Tosakura, and more acclaimed musicians such as leading contemporary jazz drummer Ishiwaka Shun and pianist Umei Misaki.
