Mamoru Hosoda's "Scarlet" on Blu-ray Special Edition

"Scarlet" presents a story centered on Princess Scarlet, who awakens in the "Land of the Dead" after failing to avenge her father. In this world, violence dominates daily life, and those who lose their strength become "Void," disappearing entirely. When Scarlet learns that her enemy Claudius also exists there, she renews her vow of revenge.

During her journey, she meets Hijiri, a nurse from modern-day Japan. Although they initially clash, they begin traveling together. Scarlet survives through combat, while Hijiri avoids fighting and instead helps others regardless of whether they are allies or enemies. Through Hijiri's compassion, Scarlet's emotional state gradually changes.

Meanwhile, Claudius seeks control over the "Unreached Place," manipulating the inhabitants of the "Land of the Dead" to achieve his goal. As Scarlet searches for him, assassins are sent to eliminate her. Scarlet and Hijiri continue forward while confronting these threats, leading to a decisive final encounter.
