Happy New Year to all of my fellow anime otakus and anyone ready to check out the 2024 anime series with us. As the new year begins, so do new anime series and also a few new seasons of long-awaited anime series. I would like to share a few favorites of mine. I hope you will add them to your watchlist this year.

1. Kyuujitsu no Warumono-san [Mr. Villain's Day Off]

This anime adaptation is from Yuu Morikawa’s comedy genre manga. It started this week (January 2024).

The opening theme song is Yūho - Walk by Ivudot, and the ending theme song is Kyūsoku Jūden - Relaxation Charging by Glasgow.

It is about a leader of a villainous organization. Everyone needs a rest, right? Are you curious how villains spend their days off? If you are, don't forget to watch this anime to learn what they do in their free time.

2. Tonari no Yokai-san [The Yōkai Next to Me]

This supernatural anime also looks promising. It took place in a rural town where yokai and humans live normally together. One day, a twenty-year-old cat named Buchio suddenly evolves into a nekomata. He starts to question the reason for his evolution and tries to learn more about his transformation with his friends. It is planned to be broadcast in spring 2024. It is an adaptation of a manga series by Noho.

3. Bartender

Since I know Aiba Masaki ( ARASHI member) played Ryu Sasakura in the live-action drama of this story, I became interested in this anime. Even though in 2006, they made an anime series from Bartender manga written by Araki Joh and illustrated by Kenji Nagatomo, a new TV anime series is planned to broadcast in spring 2024. In this series, the clients’ variety of problems are resolved through the bartender's right drink choice for them. If you are curious about liquors or like slice-of-life genre anime, you should give it a try.

4. Yubisaki to Renren [A Sign Of Affection]

This anime is about a girl with a hearing implant and the boy she falls in love with. He is from the upper class in her university and travels the world. On the other hand, she rarely interacts with people and lives in the same place for her whole life. As time passes, they start learning about each other's different lifestyles.

The opening theme song, Yuki no Ne - The Sound of Snow, is by Novelbright, and the ending theme song, Snowspring, is by ChoQMay. This anime started this week (January 2024).

5. Momochi-san Chi no Ayakashi Ouji [The Demon Prince Of Momochi House]

I will sound like an aunty but still... I read this manga years and years ago, I am so glad to see that they are finally making an anime series of it. It started this week (January 2024).

The story is about an orphan girl named Himari Momochi who receives a letter about inheriting a mansion called the Momochi House on her 16th birthday. There are rumors that this mansion is haunted but she doesn’t care because it is the only thing left from her family. She meets Aoi Nanamori and his companions who warn her to leave the house, but she is determined to stay. Soon after she meets them, she finds out that the house is a gate between the world of the living and the spirit realm and Aoi has been chosen as the guardian of the house. Himari’s life isn’t going to be easy while learning more about yokai.

6. Jiisan Baasan Wakagaeru [A Story About a Grandpa and Grandma Who Returned Back to Their Youth]

The English title of this anime is pretty long and summarizes everything I guess. Happily married Saitou couple wake up one day in their younger bodies. This anime follows this couple in their daily life.

This comedy-romance anime is scheduled to broadcast in the spring of 2024.

7. Hananoi-kun to Koi no Yamai [A Condition Called Love]

This anime is about a first-year high school student named Hotaru Hinase who is a very kind and caring person and is not interested in falling in love because she doesn’t understand romance at all. One day, she witnesses a handsome honor student named Hananoi’s break up from his girlfriend. Hotaru offers him her umbrella in a gesture of kindness. But she becomes surprised by his asking her out the very next day. She rejects him, but Hananoi doesn’t give up on her easily.

This romance anime is scheduled to broadcast in April 2024.

8. Ramen Akaneko [Red Cat Ramen]

Seeing a cat and Japanese food in an anime trailer and hearing the voice of Kenjiro Tsuda [Tatsu from Gokushufudou] was enough for me to be convinced to watch this anime! It is planned to be broadcast in the summer of 2024.

The anime is about a ramen shop run by talking cats. Tamako, who is a human keen on dogs, has been hired as a part-timer. Her tasks are not what she was expecting in a usual ramen shop.

Finally, I would like to mention the anime series' new seasons that I would like to see; Laid-Back Camp Season 3(April 2024), and Black Butler (Spring 2024).

Which anime series are you planning to add to your 2024 Watchlist, share with us on social media.
