スローダウン・レコーズによるメルツバウ・アーカイブ・シリーズは第7弾に突入。このシリーズでは1996年から1998年にかけての発掘音源がリリースされる。本作『Tauro-O2』には1998年のアルバム『Tauromachine』(Relapse/ Release)のアウトテイクと同時期の未使用音源を収録 (タイトルの'O'はOuttakesの'O')。この時期のメルツバウの使用機材として有名なEMS Synthi 'A'以外にも多数の電子楽器が用いられており、テクノやドラムンベースなどの影響により低音を強調したり、フィルターを多用した音作りが特徴となっている。また、この時期にリリースされたメルツバウ作品のアートワークには近代建築の写真が多く用いられていたため、今回のシリーズのアートワークにも全て1998年頃に秋田氏が撮影した建築物などの写真が使用されている。
