SPOILMAN, a band newly formed by its core member Kashima, has already released its first full-length album. The other members of Kashima's band are Tanabe, who was also a member of Rokutoshichi and plays drums in various bands such as Yosohayoso and Sound Travel Crew, and Nagai, who also plays bass in TTUD. While the sharp and aggressive essence of noise rock bands such as Rapeman, Shellac, and The Jesus Lizard is at the center of the band's sound, the thoroughly lean sound also evokes the desolation of bands from the Louisville scene such as Slint and Rodan. The band's sound is also characterized by a discordant feel reminiscent of Fugazi and Hoover, and the occasional Polvo-like eccentric phrase, all of which are exquisitely balanced on a sound that has been stripped down to its bare bones, creating a unique sound.
