[ブルーノート創立80周年記念【ブルーノート・ソウル・ジャズ・ワークス】] 「ブルーノート・ザ・80ワークス」、「ブルーノートモア・60ワークス」につづく、ブルーノートの創立80周年記念再発シリーズ。ここ数年日本盤で発売されていなかったソウル・ジャズ系の名盤・レア盤を20タイトル・リイシュー。 ジーン・ハリスの名前が単独クレジットされた最初の作品。60年代半ばからザ・スリー・サウンズの不動のメンバーに変化がみられる。本作の録音時、ドラマーの座についていたのは4代目のカール・バーネット。グループは、ギター、管楽器、ストリングスなどを加えたポップでスケールの大きなアルバム制作へと舵を切っていったが、本作もその路線にある。アレンジはモンク・ヒギンズで、人気の「ブック・オブ・スリム」は彼の作曲。 ＜パーソネル＞ ジーン・ハリス (p)、アンドリュー・シンプキンス (b)、カール・バーネット (ds)、モンク・ヒギンズ (arr, cond)他 1968年9月19日、20日、ロサンゼルスにて録音 ●新規ミニ・ライナーノーツ付 ●ウェブサイト「BLUE NOTE CLUB」の特別コンテンツへアクセス可能なシリアルコード封入
