      Kitade's charming 3rd album 4

After listening to "Bondage" enough, I will say I like the album. It's not as good as Kitade's second album "I scream", but it's not horrible. With Kitade's new screaming/sounds(which I feel debuted at the end of "Lamia" from her "PUNK&BABYs" single), it may be hard for new fans and even old fans to stand at first. I found myself having to warn my sisters of the weird sounds Kitade makes in this album beforehand to assure they'd be prepared. But the more you hear the album the more used to it you'll be and maybe even start to enjoy it. I actually find the screaming fine now. I feel that's the way Kitade expresses and continues to establish her own unique singing style. The album features a total of 12 tracks, 5 songs from her previous 4 singles and also includes one song from a tribute album Kitade participated in. A great thing about the album is Kitade's vocals in general. The first 5 songs go from the strong "ファムファタール (Femme Fatale)", the beautifully intense "月華-tsukihana-", to the crazed up-beat "DEATH SHOWCASE". From there the ballad, slow paced songs, such as "エーテル(Ether)" and "My Dear Maria", really are the songs that shine. Her vocals are especially exquisite and dreamy, yet powerful in these songs. I really enjoyed how Kitade sung in all songs, each song really matching the titles. Vocals along the music, everything flowed together well. She really achieved setting the perfect tone and mood for each song. Though I do feel that the song placement in the album leaves me feeling like the songs are going by quickly, and even after a few listens I still don't really remember what song comes after which. The placing feels a bit off. The DVD was a bit disappointing. I thought it would have full length songs performed LIVE, but sadly not one. They were broken and shown in parts. The first half of the DVD is of Kitade's trip to Germany, where she is sight seeing, then performing at an anime convention. Later her recent singles PVs (a total of 4). The way the DVD is put together, is pretty much the same as the DVD in "Berry Berry SINGLES", when played it goes right into the video though both do have main menus. The length of these two DVDs are two minutes apart, "Bondage" being shorter. "Berry Berry SINGLES" is entirely Kitade candid, and recording, it really is more memorable and seems like it lasts more than 34 minutes. "Bondage" goes by quickly and really feels like it could be less than 32 minutes. This being her newest album, I wish more footage was included. Despite that, at the same time it is nice to see Kitade candid, performing (even though not fully), or seeing any footage of her at all since there is not much out there. Also having the PVs to watch is also a plus. They are filmed in great quality and display Kitade's beauty wonderfully. It's not a thing to regret getting the normal edition, though with the limited footage there is of Kitade, getting the limited edition with the DVD wouldn't be a bad thing to consider, but it is something more a long time fan should go out there way to do if they can. Hopefully in the future Kitade will release some type of LIVE footage or PV collection, something I'm sure all Kitade fans would truly look forward to. "Bondage" is an album worth checking out mainly for older Kitade fans."Bondage" might not be the first album a new Kitade fan should try out, but rather they should hear her work in progression from old to new, hearing her growth and change. That way one can be somewhat prepared for what "Bondage" has to give. The footage is a treat, the songs are striking, and the packaging is also beautiful. Not Kitade's best work but worth the while even so.
