The design within the whole set is splendorous and a must have for fans with all the cute little designs. I have not bought a karuta set before this so I do not have the authority to comment on the quality of the cards but personally the weight and feel of the card looks professional and worth the money spent on it. Don't worry if you don't know how to play the game, all you need is just to be able to read some Japanese and the game is all yours to enjoy! It's a beginner's set with cue letters on the playing cards to assist players in picking the right cards during games. Even if you're not into competitive karuta, this box set is a good way to start learning about the beauty of Japanese literature and its poetry.
