DEVOが核廃棄物処理場で赤くなる! デニス・ホッパーがキッチンで狂う! ニール・ヤング監督・主演で贈る、まさかの放射能コメディ! ニール・ヤングは本映画をきっかけとしてDEVOのマーク・マザーズボウの助言と影響により、1979年のアルバム「RUST NEVER SLEEPS」を発表、当時台頭してきていたパンクロックへの共鳴を示すようなアルバムとなった。その中でも代表曲となったのが「Hey Hey, My My」。劇中ではニール・ヤングとDEVOの面々がこの曲で激烈な演奏を見せている。初公開時は88分だったが、長年なんとなく未完成であるとの思いを抱いていたニール・ヤングは、2014年トロント国際映画祭にて突如ディレクターズ・カット版を発表。80分に短縮され、全体のテンポもよりスピーディーな編集がなされている。――DEVOのメンバーが働いている廃棄処理場のある街がボブ・ディランの「風に吹かれて」を歌えないほど放射能で汚染されている中、主人公の自動車修理工が夢の中でネイティヴ・アメリカンと一緒に歌ったりコンサートを開くが、最後には原発事故が起こり地球が終わってしまう。
