The actual leader of the band, Roman Ott, formed his own band "Iner Shape" in 2003 after graduating from the Conservatory of Music in Berlin, Germany. He is an alto saxophonist, but he admires tenor saxophonists such as John Coltrane and Wayne Shorter, and his playing is robust and strong. Another highlight is a refreshing rendition of Joe Henderson's classic "Serenity," a master of '60s modal jazz along with Shorter. Kurt Rosenwinkel is featured on five of the nine tracks.
