ボブ・ドロー、ポール・モチアンの参加も貴重な幻の名盤。 50年代ジャズきっての幻の名盤が、多数のボーナス・トラックを加えて復活しました。サックス奏者のハル・スタインは1928年生まれ。50年代初頭には日本に駐留し、秋吉敏子など数々のミュージシャンと共演しています。このアルバムはアメリカに戻ってから吹き込んだ最初のリーダー作で、歌手としても知られるボブ・ドローのビ・バップ的なピアノ・プレイ(このアルバムでは歌っていません)、のちにビル・エバンスとの共演で名声を博すポール・モチアンのドラムスも存在感を発揮しています。(6)は、スタインが日本滞在中の思い出をつづったナンバーです。
