Always Sanchome no Yuhi (Sunset on the Third Street) (English Subtitles) [Regular Edition]

I did not know anything about the movie at all, I chose it by accident (because of it's beautiful name) to kill my time on my way back from Sydney to Bangkok. But I found out that the film does warm my heart and I feel attached to the film so much. The film brought back the warm feelings of Tokyo neibourhood during period of 50's to life by showing how people interacts with one another, how friendly people were to each other and how much they care about each other even though they are not cousin. People shares same happiness and disappointment as if they all were one big family. I wish, in our society, these kind of feelings are still around. Further more, the film production (I watched it on an aeroplane vdo screen which is quite small though) could re-produce and bring to life the old time shinkansen, road, wooden house, residential area, cars, light pole, even Tokyo Tower. At the time I watched, I could not tell that it is a new film or old film but I can guess from the people in the scene. If you want to see how Japanese were, how the Tokyo was and if you forget how good people can be to each other, buy this DVD.

This is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. In the beginning of the movie it felt all over the place. But as you watch it I grew attached to all the characters more and more. It's not hard to predict the plot and where it was leading, but I was constantly moved by each development. At the end of the movie I found myself wanting so muuch more. Anyone who enjoys dramas should consider picking this up.
