ブリティッシュ・ロックそしてモッズのカリスマ、ピート・タウンゼントの軌跡がここに! 11タイトルを一挙リリース!! タイトルに偽りのない、まさに特ダネ。 このCD2枚組はピート個人の膨大なデモ・テープの中から価値あるトラックをすくい上げたもの。 ピート自身の解説を参考にすると、フー初期の頃から長期にわたる作品を収録。 フー名義の『オッズ&ソッズ』(74年)と異なり、必ずしも未発表曲ばかりではないが、サー・ダグラス・クインテットでも意識したような「スクイーズ・ボックス」や、宗教色漂う、おどろおどろしい「マジック・バス」など、おなじみの作品がレアな状態で聴けるのがなんとも面白い。 当然のごとく、「メアリー」といった『ライフハウス』関連の作品も収録。 さらに、カントリー・ロック調の「クッキン」でぺダル・スティール・ギターを弾いたり、「ゴーイン・フィッシン」で60年代後半のビーチ・ボーイズ、「トゥ・バーニー・ケッセル」でフュージョン・スタイルに取り組んだりと、普段から様々な試みを行っている、前向きな姿勢が十二分に伝わってくる。 1983年度作品。 初の紙ジャケ仕様、デジタル・リマスタリング、ピートによる曲目解説(翻訳)付。
