Description
Civilization as we know it is threatened by the Muans, the descendants of the lost continent of Mu that sank beneath the sea some twelve thousand years ago. The Muans are protected by their God, Manda, a gigantic sea serpent/dragon/kaiju. And it is up to Captain Jinguji (Jun Tazaki), a retired naval officer, and his super submarine Atragon to stop the Muans, but alas, the captain has no interest in committing his submarine to the battle against the Mu empire. The film co-stars Tadao Takashima ("Son of Godzilla," "Godzilla vs. Super-Mechagodzilla") and Kenji Sahara, Toho's favourite actor who starred in more Kaiju films than anybody else, as well as Tsuburaya's "Ultra" series. Directed by the great Ishiro Honda, the film's soundtrack music was scored by the equally great Akira Ifukube. The film also features excellent miniature special effects by Eiji Tsuburaya.

1万2千年前、地殻変動で海底に沈んだムウ帝国は、海底で都市を作り地上を征服する機会を狙っていた。一方、終戦間際に姿を消した神宮寺大佐らは孤島に住んで海底軍艦を建造し、米軍との最終決戦を計画していた。そんな彼らにムウ帝国の撃退が要請される。
