Godzilla vs King Ghidrah [Blu-ray]

My first Godzilla film on Blu-ray and I hve to say I'm impressed. The image is crisp (if not crystal clear like more recent films on Blu-ray) and pretty good for a film nearly twenty years old and filmed comparatively cheeply when compared to blockbusters like The Dark Knight and Star Trek. It's a definite improvement over my dvd copy and boasts great sound that impresess even without a surround sound system. The disk comes with extras (I presume the same as those found on the Japanese dvd) which are fairly impressive. It comes with behind the scenes segments covering the SFX shooting but lacks a documentry covering the whole production like that found on other Toho Godzilla dvds, which is a bit of a shame. But the glimpses offered coupled with a raft of trailers a commentary (which to the Japanese challenged such as myself isn't much good) and a location guide which, despite the high pitched voice-over is quite interesting, covering Godzilla films filmed in and around Shinjuku. Overall this is a decent package, with a quality transfer and extras. My only complaints are the usual lack of subtitles (why Toho release these films without english subtitles when there are a raft of english speaking fans who want these films in high def and are unable to purchase them anywhere else is beyond me)and the usual high price of Japanese Blu-rays. So if this film is one of your favourites and you have the cash to spare I recommend picking it up.
