50年代に、リード・ヴォーカルのロナルド・アイズレーを中心にした兄弟グループとして結成され、ビートルズがカバーしたことでも知られる「Twistand Shout」をヒットさせた。60年代後半からは、弟のアーニーをギターに迎え、6人編成のファンク・グループとして快進撃が始まる。同時代のロックと共鳴したニュー・ソウル期を経て、「ThatLady」に代表されるヘヴィー・ファンク、「For The Love OfYou」のような蕩けるクワイエット・ストームなど、1983年の「Between TheSheets」まで毎年のようにアルバムをリリース。現在もロナルド・アイズレーがソロ名義で活動しており、50年代から2000年代まで10年毎に全米シングル・チャートに送り込んだ史上初のアーティストとなった。CD-EXTRA仕様(デジタル・ブックレットをPDFファイルで収録。曲目リスト、楽曲クレジット、解説:英文ライナー訳、アーティスト写真、ウォール・ペーパー、他)。
