ボブ・ディランの1974年作品。ディランのバック・バンドとして長らく活動をともにしたザ・バンドとの初のスタジオ・アルバム。レコーディングに要した日数は三日間だが、そんな事は微塵も感じさせない息の合った演奏を聞かせる。収録された歌は、ディランとしてはポップな作りのものが多く、後の代表曲になった「いつまでも若く」は2ヴァージョン収録されているなど聴き所の多いアルバム。"自らの運命の啓示を宇宙からのメッセージとして受け取った"とディラン自らが語っており、それを物語るアルバム・タイトルとなった。アルバム・カバーはディラン自身が描き、ライナー・ノートはディランの自筆によるものだった。8年振りの全米ツアーとも重なり、ディラン初の全米1位を獲得する。 解説・歌詞・対訳付。
