ボブ・ディランの5枚目のアルバム。1965年作品。トム・ウィルソンのプロデュースによる本作は、ロック色を強めた出来となった。初の全米TOP40となった「サブタレニアン・ホームシック・ブルース」は、ラップスタイルのシングルで、アレン・ギンズバーグが出演した音楽ビデオも話題を呼んだ。また、「ミスター・タンブリン・マン」は、ザ・バーズがカバーし彼らのデビュー・シングルとして全米1位を獲得。フォーク・ソングにロック・サウンドを取り入れフォーク・ロックと呼ばれるスタイルがここに生まれる。ラブ・ソングがチャートを賑わせた当時、思慮深く時に主張し時に幻想的な世界を描くディランは異色な存在だったが、後のロックに大きな影響を及ぼしていく事になる。従来のフォーク・ファンには歓迎されなかったが、売上は過去最高を記録した。 解説・歌詞・対訳付。
