Starting with their ground-breaking debut in 1999 when all three of their singles broke the Oricon top ten and continuin all the way to the band's internationally acclaimed latest album "The Marrow of a Bone," Dir en grey has maintained its position as one of the top bands from Japan. Now it's time to commemorate the band's ten-year history with two brand-new greatest hits albums spanning the years 1998-2002 and 2003-2007. This release is "Decade 1998-2002" focusing on Dir en grey's early years with DEG's debut release "Akuro no Oka," the "Joi" TV series outro theme "Yokan," a piano-arranged version of "Jealous -reverse" from their indies era, and more. "Decade 1998-2002" includes 21 tracks total, all featuring digital remastering designed for next generation media.

neolog Decade 1998-2002 5

Excellent best of Dir en grey's songs between 1998 and 2002. It came with 2 cds, with 21 songs. The first press cames with a filefolder with the cover of album. The booklet is dark and this makes that the lyrics doesnt read well.

Oldies but goodies 5

A great album if you don't feel like buying their other albums/singles just to get the songs you like. All their hits are right here on one album.

Old Diru!!! 5

Although these songs were previously released, it was good to hear them all together. Reminds you of when you first heard Diru. ^___^ And the digital remastering gives great sound quality to some of the older tracks.

A good compilation Pt. I 4

All though most of the songs on this was already owned by everyone in the world, it s still a nifty collection for all die hard Dir en grey fans out there! Plus, it was remastered so its all much clearer and sounds even more fantastic than the original releases.

great buy!! 5

I'm so happy it arrived earlier than expected. I was really surprised when I got home from my hospital duty to find a parcel waiting for me. I really suggest this album to the person who supports Dir en grey; especially that someone who loves them so much but cannot afford to buy all their CDs. This really is a treat for their binbo (poor) fans. XD I'm happy that Diru decided to release this compilation album. You can really see how they have changed over the years. Nevertheless, I love everything about them. I love Dir en grey so much. The album art is gorgeous and it really is a treasure. May Dir en grey continue to be successful in the coming years!

A really great thing, I think. If you get both albums you really have a great overview over how they changed and evolved over the time of their carreer. I personally was really happy to see that Jealous-reverse- and Ain't afraid to die were on this CD as well as many other songs I really love.

Consider its necessity well 3

I'm not too happy about buying this album. It's probably a great buy to those who haven't bought all the non-compilation albums from Dir en grey and for those who're just starting with Deg, since this compilation includes many Deg's best songs, such as "Akuro no Oka", "Cage", "Yokan", "304 Gouhitsu, Hakushi no Sakura", "JEALOUS -reverse-", "ain't afraid to die", "Bottom of the Death Valley", "embryo" and "-mushi-"...and I must say that the remastering truly can be heard, especially with the oldest songs.
Though, on the other hand, there was missing many songs that I'd included without a doubt: where are songs like "I'll", "GARDEN", "raison detre" and "Wake", to mention few?

The booklet is horrifying: the outlook is really chaotic and the texts are hard-to-read, plus that the art is plain strange, and not in positive way.

For people like me, already having all the non-compilation albums and already being deep inside the complex world of Deg, it's not worth it to buy this album.

I'd seriously recommend just buying all the original albums and singles instead of this compilation; you won't regret if you do so.

Forget about Dir en grey 2

Among all the releases from Dir en grey. There is only one album that I liked, i mean loved. GUAZE is simply one of the best made albums in Japanese history...Probably only X-Japan's Blue Blood can be place at the same level. After GUAZE, dir en grey becomes empty...why? Ask Yoshiki...

Great compilation 5

It would have been a dream to get this album when I started out as a Dir en grey fan. If you want a glimpse of how Dir en grey were like before they got heavier, then get this album. Many of their most loved tracks can be found inside.
However if you already have most of their stuff then you might want to give this a miss. Unless you're a fan who wants to get everything they have.
