2013年5月に行われた、日本では16年振りの坂本龍一のフル・オーケストラとの共演となる[Playing the Orchestra 2013]。5月9日 サントリーホールで行われた公演を映像化。アルバム『out of noise』(2009年)に収録された「still life」のオーケストラ・ヴァージョン「Still Life - orchestra version」から、YMO 2ndアルバム『Solid State Survivor』(1979年)に収録され、当時オーケストラをイメージして作り、今回オーケストラでの初演奏となる「Castalia」、そして「Merry Christmas Mr.Lawrence (戦場のメリークリスマス)」、「The Last Emperor」、「The Sheltering Sky」などの映画音楽からの楽曲まで、新たにオーケストラ用に編曲された数々の名曲を収録。坂本龍一のピアノとフル・オーケストラで広がる多彩な音世界を満喫できる作品。
