This album is performed by members of hsb (Hirosaki University Steelpan Club), which was formed in 2003 as Japan's first university steelpan circle and released two albums (Satie & Bach and The Beatles) from Victor in 2006, and "Okinawan Music on Steelpan" in 2008. All of the arrangements are also made by hsb members. Each piece is arranged in a different style, ranging from a relaxing ballad to a stylish jazz tune. In addition to the main steelpan ensemble (six steelpans are used in "My Neighbor Totoro" and seven other steelpans are used from low to high notes, with different arrangements for each song), keyboard harmonica, recorder, and glass harp add wonderful colors to the music. For this re-release, master musician Sanichi Tanaka has re-mastered the album for even better sound quality. ゆったり、のんびりした響きが気持ちいい、スティールパンのアンサンブルによる、スタジオジブリ作品集! トリニダード・トバゴ生まれの楽器、スティールパン。ゆったり&ゆる～いその美しい響きは、極上のリラックスサウンド。本作は、2003年に日本初の大学スティールパンサークルとして結成され、2006年にはビクターから2枚のアルバム(サティ&バッハとビートルズ)をリリース、また2008年には「スティールパンで聴く沖縄音楽」をリリースしたhsb(弘前大学スティールパン部)のメンバーによる演奏で、編曲も全曲hsbメンバーが手掛けている。ゆったりとしたバラードから、おしゃれなジャズ調のものなど、1曲ごと異なった曲調に編曲。アンサンブルは、メインのスティールパン(「となりのトトロ」では6台のスティールパンを使用しているのをはじめ、低音から高音まで計7種類のスティールパンを使い、曲ごとに編成を変えています)に加え、鍵盤ハーモニカ、リコーダー、グラスハープなどが素敵な色を添えている。今回の再リリースに際し、名匠・田中三一氏がリ・マスタリングを行い、より素晴らしい音質が実現。深みを増した、スティールパンの素晴らしい響きが聴きどころ。さらに、未発表のボーナストラックも追加収録。　ゆったり響くサウンドに乗せて奏でられる、スタジオジブリの名曲をお楽しみください。
