"秘宝"とも称されるサウンド・リミテッドのサード・アルバム。この艶。この深み。猪俣猛が手掛けるジャズ・ロックは新たな次元へと突入した。 1969年の暮れに結成されたサウンド・リミテッドは、猪俣猛の意気込みを反映するかのように1970年に入って立て続けに3枚のアルバムを録音する。その3作目に当たるのが『New Rock In Europe』である。ビートルズやドノヴァン、またニノ・ロータなどヨーロッパのミュージシャンの曲を中心に構成された本作。水谷公生の揺らめくギターに魅了される「Something」やタイトなグルーヴがエキサイティングな「Barabajagal」など聴きどころは多いが、同グループのレパートリーである猪俣のオリジナル「Mustache」の再演が嬉しい。『Sounds Of Sound L.T.D.』と『Sensational Jazz Vol. 1/2』に続く3度目の録音となるが、ここでのヴァージョンはアルバム全体の雰囲気を濃縮したかのように艶やかでサイケデリック。猪俣の手掛けるジャズ・ロックが新たな次元へと突入したことを知らしめる記念碑的作品である。text by 尾川雄介 (UNIVERSOUNDS / DEEP JAZZ REALITY)
