第4回『このミステリーがすごい!』大賞受賞作! 『チーム・バチスタの栄光』に続く、メディカル・エンターテインメント第2弾!! ジャニーズJr.の高田翔と、B.I.Shadowの中島健人が出演。 "バチスタ事件"から9カ月後。東城医大付属病院で脳腫瘍の除去手術を受けた少年・岡部巧 (中島健人)は、手術が成功したにもかかわらず、数時間後に原因不明の脳幹出血を起こし植物状態となった。執刀医は、これまで数々の難手術を成功させてきた天才脳外科医・西園寺正也 (遠藤憲一)。心療内科特別愁訴外来の診察医・田口公平 (伊藤淳史)は、高階病院長 (林隆三)からバチスタ事件に続き内部調査を命じられる。もちろん厚生労働省の白鳥 (仲村トオル)と一緒に・・・。 前作と同様に、原作とは異なる内容でストーリーが展開! ラストは「東城医大救命救急では、不正が行われている」という謎の投書が特別愁訴外来に送りつけられ、田口と白鳥がその調査のために病院内を闊歩するという『チーム・バチスタ2 ジェネラル・ルージュの凱旋』に繋がることが示唆されるシーンで締めくくられている。
