Lessons from a Disaster The Great East Japan Earthquake Recorded on Camera [DVD + Booklet] (region 2)

Published by Sendai Television, the TV station located in northern east Japan, where people experienced severe damages and hardship caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011, this set contains a DVD (Fully in English, Region ALL, 104mins) and a 20 page booklet "Disaster Preparedness Guide." The DVD contains TV footage of the disaster that Sendai Television courageously began to record immediately following the earthquake. It also contains interviews with various people who survived to share with the world their intense experience, offering important insight and information that could literally be passed down from generation to generation to save lives in natural disasters. Sendai Television will donate proceeds from the sales of this DVD to aid the effort to recover from the disaster.

仙台放送では、東日本大震災の発生から１年が経過した今年４月、震災の「映像記録」と「証言」を収録したＤＶＤ＆ブックレット「被災地から伝えたい～テレビカメラが見た東日本大震災」を発売いたしました。大地震と津波による犠牲者を二度と出さないために、震災報道で撮影した映像を記録に残し、永く後世に伝え、それを今後の地域防災・防災研究・防災教育に役立てて欲しいという願いを込めたＤＶＤ＆ブックレットです。「防災」は世界共通の課題です。未曾有の大災害となった東日本大震災の「記録」や「証言」を「教訓」として世界中の人々に伝えたい、その思いから英語翻訳版を制作いたしました。日本語版の内容をそのままに、全編英語のナレーションにし、英語の字幕を付けました。このＤＶＤとブックレットには、被災地・宮城の震災の日とそれ以降の映像記録、取材させていただいた皆様の証言、視聴者の皆様から番組に寄せられた声、そして仙台放送で報道にあたったスタッフの証言が収められています。５０年後、１００年後、そしてもっと後まで、自然災害の恐ろしさを語り継ぎ、未来の命を守りたいと強く願います。このＤＶＤとブックレットが、今後、「世界で」起こりうる地震や津波の被害を少しでも減少させることの一助となればと心から願っております。なお、このＤＶＤの売上の一部を東日本大震災の義援金とさせていただきます。
