Description

[Machine Translation] Leni Riefenstahl, a woman who lived four lifetimes in the 20th century. This epic documentary follows the tumultuous life of a woman loved by Hitler and hated by the world. This is the first Blu-ray release in Japan and the world's first product using the HD new master. --Leni Riefenstahl is a director who cannot be overlooked when discussing the history of world cinema or the German Third Reich. She directed "Olympia," a documentary of the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games that won the Golden Lion at the Venice International Film Festival, and "The Victory of the Will," a documentary of the Nazi Party Congress, which is still taboo in Germany. After the war, she was labeled a "Nazi collaborator" and fought her way through numerous trials despite being accused and silenced. The film "Leni," which was the talk of the town at film festivals around the world, is a one-of-a-kind film that unmistakably depicts the tumultuous life of Leni. The film is based on an interview with Leni by director Muller, and features her dancing as a dancer. The film traces the trajectory of Leni's life, with plenty of footage from the Nazi era and never-before-seen footage, as well as making-of films in which she starred and directed. When Director Muller, whose generation is like her grandchildren, asks her insistent questions about her views on fascism, her relationship with Hitler, Goebbels, and other high-ranking Nazi officials, or the political responsibilities of artists, Leni does not flinch but insists on her own justification and sometimes vehemently refutes his arguments. Muller, the director, is unafraid to go toe-to-toe with Leni. In this film, the director reveals why Leni is "hated, loved, impeached, and admired.
