ZOOMクラブでのウォームアップ・ギグから約1カ月。アルバム制作に向け、ライヴで新曲を磨き上げるため、クリムゾンは12月15日ポーツマスまでノンストップのUKツアーを行う。本音源はそのツアーで残された音源中でも特に貴重なサウンドボード録音。オープンリールによる録音のためショウの前半しか残されていないが、残念だが太陽と戦慄クリムゾンの1972年ライヴ音源としては最高品質。過去単体・ボックス等での発売はあったが国内盤は絶版となっていたため待望の再発となる。ZOOMクラブ時に比べかなりアレンジが固まってきているものの、まだまだ完成版とは異なる部分があちらこちらに見つかる初期音源ならではの聴きどころが多数見つかる。「太陽と戦慄 パート1」はコーダ部分は未だ完成せず、この時期のみの「土曜日の本」とのメドレー形式になっていたり、大分しっかりしたアレンジになってきてはいるが「放浪者」のアレンジも微妙な違いが見つかる。聴きものは25分越えのインプロヴィゼーション「オール・ザット・グリッターズ・イズ・ノット・ネール・ポリッシュ」。激しいファンク・タイプのインプロヴィゼーションは圧巻!
