Guitar Kojidan

The first performance included in the program is "Manslayer Yizo," based on Kageyu's original script. The world of the storyteller's narrative, which moves back and forth between the end of the Edo period and the Meiji period, is colored by the sounds of the guitar and shamisen. The second piece, "Kaikoku Kinkashiri" was adapted by Keiyu from an original story by Shin Hasegawa. Set in Yokohama in the Meiji era, the melody of tango represents the sorrow of a foreigner. Each of these works is based on the Japanese art of storytelling, but spun with the music required by the story itself, creating a new world of storytelling both old and new.
