Description

The film depicts Japan right after the Pacific War. Risuke is a young man who is affected by tuberculosis and placed in sanatorium far from town. There is an unusual rule there, that patients and nurses call each other by nickname, and Risuke is soon named Hibari. One day, a new nurse comes to the sanatorium and Hibari start being attracted to her. . .

太宰治生誕100周年記念 「ヴィヨンの妻」「人間失格」に続き、最もポップな青春小説を完全映画化!! 今最も注目の女優、仲里依紗、芥川賞作家川上未映子をはじめ豪華キャストが集結! 監督・脚本は「パビリオン山椒魚」の若き天才、冨永昌敬。太平洋戦争直後の日本を、詳細なディテールにまで拘り再現すると共に、あえて時代考証を無視した衣装を用いるなど、冨永監督のおしゃれなセンスで太宰作品を現在に甦らせている。――太平洋戦争敗戦直以後。結核を患う青年・利助(染谷将太)は、人里離れた結核療養所"健康道場"に入所する。そこは少し風変わりな習慣があり、患者も看護婦もお互いにアダ名で呼び合っており、間もなく利助もひばりと名付けられる。そんなある日、ひばりは新しくやって来た看護婦長の竹さん(川上未映子)のことが気になり始める・・・。
