The titles of the two paintings, "Night Seen Through the Gap in the Night" and "Afterglow," became the titles of the two songs, and "Night Seen Through the Gap in the Night" was used on the CD cover and became the title of the album. The picture of "Afterglow" was also printed on a card and enclosed in the jacket with the disc, so that the audience could enjoy both the music and the pictures from the concert.

2023年9月3日～30日に東京、＜Ftarri＞で、画家sasakure.の個展を開催。その間、sasakure.がライヴ・ペインティングで参加したコンサートを3回おこなった。その第一回は9月9日、sasakure.と遠藤ふみ (アップライト・ピアノ)のデュオ。遠藤が2023年に [Hitorri]レーベルよりリリースしたソロ・アルバム『つめたい光、あたたかい青の中』のジャケットには、sasakure.の絵が使われている。本CDには、9月9日のコンサートでの演奏2曲を収録。遠藤ふみの心に深く染み入るような静かなピアノ演奏と、sasakure.の絵を描くガサガサという音が、ふたりの共演を形作っている。この時に描かれた2枚の絵の題名「夜の隙間から見えた夜」と「余光」が、そのまま2曲の曲名となり、さらに「夜の隙間から見えた夜」はCDジャケットに使われてアルバム・タイトルにもなった。一方、「余光」の絵もカードに印刷してディスクと共にジャケットに封入され、この日のコンサートの音楽と絵をどちらも楽しめる内容となっている。
