スパイキャッチャーとは、国際秘密警察ライン(TULIP「チューリップ」=The Undercover Line of International Police)に所属するエージェントの呼称。本作は、そんなTULIP日本支部のスパイキャッチャーたちが、国際謀略反乱グループ(TIGER「タイガー」=The International Group of Esplionage and Revolt)と対決する姿を描いたアクションドラマ。1965年10月～1966年3月までNET(現・テレビ朝日)系にて全26話が放送された。主人公・J3役に川津祐介、日本支部長J1役に丹波哲郎、J2役に江原真二郎といった豪華キャストが顔を揃え、本編に登場する万年筆型催眠銃やライターカメラ、ペンダント型無線マイク、カメラ付き口紅など、スパイならではの秘密兵器や、空飛ぶスーパーカーといった特撮を多用した迫力のアクションシーンも話題を呼んだ注目作。今回のDVD化にあたっては、フィルムが現存するTVシリーズ第2話、第3話、第4話と、1966年8月に公開された劇場版『スパイキャッチャーJ3 SOS危機一発』(TV第23話と第24話の再編集版)を収録。幻となっていた貴重な映像が、ついにDVDで登場! ブックレット封入。
