人間・東條英機の闘いを通して描く「東京裁判」の真実! 日本の戦後の進路を決定付けたともいえる東京裁判の全貌を描くとともに、裁判を通じて闘い抜いたA級戦犯・東條英機にスポットを当て、日本の歴史を再検証し、更には、日本人としての誇りを問いかける重厚な歴史的感動巨編。 物語は、連合国の政治的戦略を背景に、敗戦国・日本を悪の象徴として糾弾する首席検事に、独立国家の威信をかけて切り返す東條の対決を主軸に展開。さらに戦勝国が一方的に裁く法廷のあり方に矛盾を指摘しながらも大国の壁に封印されるインド代表パール判事の苦悶など様々な人間模様をそれぞれの"誇り"に焦点を当てて綴っていく。そして、"たった一人の闘い"を支える東條の妻・かつ子の愛を真摯に描くことで、従来語られてきた"東條英機=悪の権化"という単純な構造ではない"人間・東條英機"を浮き彫りにしていく。
