今作は、大瀬戸千嶋のルーティンワークの一つであるボランティア活動の為だけに作られ、演奏されていた楽曲です。そしてその活動を重ねていく中で、「自分達だけ聞いているのでは勿体無い!」「もっと沢山の人にこの曲を知って欲しい」 という、たくさんの熱い声に後押しされる形で、今回初めて音源化することになったものです。アルバム「earth」は、大地の誕生から成長、営みを 「1楽章イエロー、2楽章グリーン、3楽章オレンジ、4楽章ホワイト、5楽章ブルー」と色をモチーフにし、壮大なテーマを基に創られています。前作「DreamStage」とは異なる「大瀬戸千嶋」の音楽の幅の大きさがポイントです。また、レコーディング場所にもこだわり、山口県・秋吉台国際芸術村での演奏を収録しました。ホール特有の自然リバーブなどがうまく調和し、「earth」というタイトルに負けない、サウンドに仕上がっています。組曲となっていますので、まずは第1楽章から聴いてみてください。目を閉じて聴いていると、突然目の前に大自然の大きなスクリーンが広がり、まるで、大地の誕生や自然の芽吹き、陽の暖かさ、夕日の神秘さなど、大自然の営みを早送りして見ている感覚になります。この感覚を是非、体感して欲しいです。サックスフォーンとエレクトーンという、珍しいユニットで、広島市内を中心に活動を始めて4年。広島最大イベントのひとつ、フラワーフェスティバルはもちろん、今年、2010年は、広島テレビにて24時間テレビ33「愛は地球を救う」にゲスト出演、世界遺産宮島での演奏を2回も行うなど、広島での活躍ぶりは有名また、ピンクリボン活動などのボランティア活動もルーティンワークとして活発に行っています。
