By the time he was 19 years old, he was paid to play drums and was active as a support player for many recordings and live tours at Pacifico Yokohama, Kannai Grand Hall (Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture), live houses, and jazz clubs. At the age of 21, he became interested in vocal activities and moved to New York for three years from the age of 23, seeking new musicality as a player and vocalist. 本作は、プロドラムプレイヤーからヴォーカリストの転身し、プレイヤー、作曲家としても活躍するアーティスト水野達也の個人名義では初となるMini Album。タイトルの「First Steps」には、歌い手『水野達也』としての初めの一歩ではあるが、Stepsと複数にする事で、人誰しも、いつでも、気持ち次第で「初めの一歩」を踏めるといった、ドラムプレイヤーからシンガーに転身し新たな挑戦を続ける本人の気持ちがこもっている。またアルバム全曲を通した際に、弾き語りからロックテイストの曲調のものなど、幅広い音楽性を持っていて、何モノにもとらわれず、心のまま、感じたまま「世界中の音楽の要素を含んだ音楽の祭典」をコンセプトに創作された歌い手の気持ちが存分に表現されている。キセキ / 様々な苦難や葛藤を乗り越えて得た幸せを現した歌詞 神奈川県横浜市に生まれ15才よりバンド結成を機にドラムを始める。ドラムプレイヤーとして19才の頃にはギャラをもらい、数々のレコーディングサポートやライブツアーでパシフィコ横浜、関内大ホール(横浜市中区)、ライブハウスやジャズクラブのサポートプレイヤーとして活躍。同時にピアノを学び、作曲活動も始める。21才の頃にはヴォーカルとしての活動にも興味を持ち、プレイヤーとしてもヴォーカリストとしても新たな音楽性を求め、23才から3年間、ニューヨークに渡米。帰国後、弾き語りやセッションスタイルで横浜・渋谷・赤坂のLiveハウスやジャズクラブでアーティスト「水野達也」として活動を再開。
